Trip Itinerary

Day 1:
The tour starts in Egilsstaðir or at pickup in the area. We drive to Kárahnúkar dam before driving the highland road towards Kverkfjöll. We also stop at the natural hot springs in Laugavalladalur and other places on our way.  We estimate to be in Kverkfjöll around 5pm to get ready for the long day ahead.  After dinner we fit the glacier equipment needed and go through next days plan.

Day 2:
We wake up early and take a short drive towards the glacier. We hike up the Kverkjökull outlet before going up the icecap itself leading us to the Gengissig caldera. We continue to Hveradalur geothermal valley, the highest geothermal area in Iceland where fire and ice meet. An amazing panoramic view towards Dyngjujökull, Askja and Herðubreið mountain. A truly stunnig scenery.
This one is well worth the effort. After the hike we will have a BBQ party.

Day 3:
On our way back to Egilsstaðir we visit the highland oasis, Hvannalindir and other nice places in the huge lavafields. The tour ends in Egilsstaðir or at your accommodation.
